Twenty-two-year-old Rushann Swan was taken to hospital after a man he recognised struck him repeatedly in the face then kicked him until he was unconscious.

"All I remember was hearing `I'm going to kill you' and I woke up in the hospital. It happened so fast.'' said Mr. Swan.

Mr. Swan suffered a broken jaw bone, cuts inside his mouth, bruised and swollen face.

With the jaw bone broken in two places, the right side of his mouth had to be stitched together.

Mr. Swan said he had walked away from an earlier fight with his assailant at Club 40 on Front Street.

The victim will remain at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for observation and remains on medication for headaches and dizziness.

Police are appealing for any of the several witnesses to contact Central CID at 295-0011.

In other weekend crime, several pieces of jewellery were stolen when thieves took advantage of two homes where residents failed to lock the windows.

A Lapsley Lane, Sandys home was burgled sometime during the day on Friday.

The culprit entered the home, stole the jewellery and unsuccessfully tried to open a locked briefcase before leaving.

And at St. George's a necklace was stolen from a Queen Street home sometime during the day on Saturday.

In addition, a 45-year-old St. George's man was arrested in connection with a break-in at a Queen Street, St. George's home.

Police arrested the suspect after a chase along Wellington Slip Road, St.

George's at around 2 p.m.

He was taken to St. George's Police Station and detained.
