The 55-year-old rider suffered deep cuts to his legs and arms. His wife, 57, broke a leg. Police say the accident occurred at about 3.45 p.m. on Saturday after the rider apparently lost control of the bike on Scaur Hill.

A 44-year-old female visitor was also the victim of a road accident on Saturday.

She fractured a wrist when her livery cycle collided with another bike on Harrington Sound Road, Hamilton Parish, near the junction with Walsingham Lane, at about 5.30 p.m.

The rider of the other cycle escaped with cuts.

In another accident, the driver of a Daihatsu Charade was treated at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for cuts and chest injuries after crashing into a wall at the junction of Crawl Hill and Radnor Road, Hamilton Parish.

The accident, which extensively damaged the front of the car, occurred at about 3.20 a.m. on Saturday.

A Daihatsu Charade was also involved in an accident at 7 a.m. yesterday on Middle Road in Paget, near Bostock Hill.

Police say the driver claimed she swerved to avoid a dog and lost control of the vehicle, which careered through a wooden fence and went down a small embankment.
