St.George's sewage plant is a go
to Friday's Budget.
Finance Minister Eugene Cox revealed $200,000 had been allocated in the fiscal year's capital plan as the part of a project expected to last several years.
Corporation secretary Nancy Hooper said the scheme was still in its planning stages and it was not even known where the facility would be. She said the current sewage treatment plant, which is located in the Old Town on Market Wharf, was "very old and antiquated''.
The Corporation appeared in Magistrates' Court last year for allowing sewage to be pumped into St. George's Harbour.
Mrs. Hooper said the result of this was a joint effort between her organisation and the Works and Engineering Ministry to come up with a plan to suit everyone.
"I think this is what they call progress,'' she added.
