Two local lawyers will face Supreme Court trial next March after their court dates were set in the monthly arraignments session yesterday.

A March 7, 2005 trial date was set for lawyer Julian Ernest Sinclair Hall.

He denies five counts of stealing a total of $551,044 from Betty Lorraine McMahon between November 8, 1995 and February 20, 1996. Hall was represented by lawyer Leo Mills yesterday and his bail has been extended until his trial.

And lawyer Robert William Martyn, 41, of Smith's Parish, was given a trial date for March 21, 2005 and had his bail extended.

Martyn is charged with conspiring to defraud the Immigration Department in relation to an application for Bermuda status.

Also appearing in court yesterday were Maatkai Hatsheput and Amenemhat Waset Amen-Ra Tamerry who were convicted in June of killing their ten-month-old daughter A'Maya.

While the Tamerrys were represented at trial by defence lawyer Mark Pettingill, yesterday Amenemhat Waset Amen-Ra, 48, appeared unrepresented. He said he was "most definitely" looking for a lawyer.

Lawyer Elizabeth Christopher appeared for Maatkai Hatsheput, 36, however.

No sentencing date was set for the couple as Ms Christopher asked for more time to get information and have social and psychiatric reports done.

The couple are to reappear for mention on September 1.

In new matters yesterday, Anthony William Smith, 26, of Princess Estate Road, Pembroke, admitted to importing cannabis into Bermuda and was given a mention date for September 1.

The incident occurred on March 27, 2004 and Chief Justice Richard Ground ordered a social inquiry report into the matter. Smith, who is represented by Ms Christopher was remanded in custody.

Michael Troy Berkley, 43, of no fixed abode, denied two counts of possessing and importing with intent to supply heroin and he denied two counts of possessing and importing with intent to supply cannabis.

Berkley was represented by Richard Horseman and will appear in court again for mention on October 1.

Kino Masakia Outerbridge, 33, of Cochrane Road, Sandys, pleaded guilty to robbery and using personal violence. A social inquiry report was ordered and a September 1 mention date was set. Outerbridge was remanded in custody.

Coreen Elizabeth Ford, 41, of Ord Road, Paget, denied unlawfully wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm to Maurice Jerome Wilson, and will appear in court again for mention on October 1. She is represented by Llewellyn Peniston and her bail was extended.

Calvin St. Clair Edwards, 46, of Tankard Lane, Sandys, denied importing and possession of heroin and also denied obstruction. He is represented by Craig Attridge and a trial date was set for October 18.

Toriano Elmiro Dunkley, 33, of Pembroke was given a mention date for September 1 and was remanded in custody. Dunkley was convicted last month of robbery.

Melvin Bernard Stevens, 55, of Pembroke denied possessing and importing heroin, valued at $36,000.

Stevens, also denied possessing equipment intended for drug use. A mention date was set for October 1 and his bail was extended.

Everest John Trott, 26, of Red Coat Lane, St. George's, had his bail extended and a mention date set for September 1. Trott denies causing grievous bodily harm to Kiwon Butterfield and possessing a six-foot piece of wood.

Aldo Nelson Pace, 48, who owns Aldo's Carpet on North Shore Road, was given a trial date for February 7, 2005 and was remanded in custody until then.

He denies possessing cocaine with intent to supply and possessing equipment intended for drug use.
