Allen finally gets a home
given notice to quit by Government.
Works Minister Leonard Gibbons said Mrs. Allen would be moving to a new home in St. David's this week.
"I am delighted we have been able to find accommodation for Mrs. Allen. I am sorry it reached the stage that it did.
"It is always traumatic for people who have been in one home for a long time, particularly people who are not young,'' said Mr. Gibbons.
Mrs. Allen was first given verbal notice to move from her Frog Lane home last December, but was unable to find a new place to live despite efforts by Government and family.
Five cottages, all former Police houses, are being demolished on Frog Lane to make way for buildings or roads for the National Stadium.
Mrs. Allen will be the last to leave and in the past few months has watched as the bulldozers moved in on fields behind her home and as workmen demolished neighbouring cottages.
Mr. Gibbons added: "Mrs. Allen should be moving on September 16. Her family is apparently happy and she is happy.'' GOVERNMENT GVT
