session of Parliament on the grounds of the Cabinet Building at 11 a.m. on October 27.

The ceremony will take place on the grass verge in front of the Cabinet Building where Members of both Houses of Parliament and invited guests will be assembled to hear the Speech from the Throne which will outline Government's legislative plans for the year.

Regular sessions of the House of Assembly and Senate will follow the convening ceremony and items up for discussion early on will include the Governor's Throne Speech, the Green Paper on Long Term Residents and a report entitled Amendments to the Bermuda Constitution.

The latter two items were tabled in the House of Assembly on the last day of the last session by Labour Minister Paula Cox and Premier Jennifer Smith respectively.

And they have both been hot topics of discussion around the Island during the summer recess.

The Green Paper rules out a blanket status grant to long-term residents but offers some security to people with close ties to the Island.

Meanwhile the Constitution amendments include replacing the existing constituency system with single seats and creating constituencies of equalise in terms of voters.

On October 27, the Bermuda Regiment will march through the Cabinet Building grounds and form up on Front Street facing the building.

Mr. Masefield will arrive at 10.45 a.m., preceded by a 17-gun salute from the Bermuda Regiment Gun Troop at Fort Hamilton. He will then accompany Regiment Commanding Officer Lt. Col. David Gibbons to inspect the Guard of Honour.

Black Rod will then be dispatched to summon the House of Assembly to the Cabinet Building grounds.

At 11 a.m., members of the House of Assembly, preceded by the Sergeant at Arms bearing the Mace, the Clerk to the Legislature and the Speaker, will take up position in the Cabinet Building grounds to commence the Convening of Parliament.

At the end of the approximately half-hour ceremony, the Governor will depart for Government House. If the weather is bad, the event will take place in the Senate Chamber.
