Pamela Gordon with high hopes for the future of the game.

"I am very optimistic things will get better,'' she told The Royal Gazette .

Ms Gordon said the 90-page report by the five-member Board of Inquiry, which was headed by former Premier the Hon. Sir John Sharpe, should be welcomed by Bermuda.

"I very much appreciate it, and I think it is long overdue.'' She added: "Hopefully, it will lead to positive changes not only in sports, but also in the community at large.'' Ms Gordon said she would have to sit down and study all the report's recommendations, and consult with her political colleagues.

"Government has to prepare a response to the recommendations.'' It was noteworthy, said Ms Gordon, that the report was produced by Bermudians -- and not so-called overseas experts.

She hoped this would encourage Bermudians to take note of the public report.

Ms Gordon declined to say which particular recommendations impressed her.

"I don't think it would be right at this stage to say what struck me the most.'' Copies of the report can be bought for $10 at Government Information Services in Global House, Church Street, during regular office hours.
