Pereira and Smith among the medals
Invitational swim meet yesterday.
Graham Smith and Jimmy Pereira picked up six medals between them to lead a 16-member Bermuda contingent in their annual foray to the long-course competition in Ontario.
And one of those was gold as Smith raced to a win in the 100-metre breaststroke for 13-14 year-old boys with a time of one minute, 15.67 seconds.
He added a silver in the 50-metre freestyle with a 27.87 clocking.
Pereira, also swimming in the 13-14 boys class, was third in the 50m free in 27.99 and was third in the 200m free (2:13.95).
The two, favoured for more medals in last night's late competition, also teamed up with Robin Massey and Andrew Shaw to capture gold medals in both the 4x50m freestyle and medley relays.
The other medals belonged to Scott Simmons, who was third in the 11-12 boys 100m breast (1:31.56) and 50m free (31.06).
Smith and Pereira joined Paul Fox for some additional celebration: All three met the tough standards for the upcoming Caribbean and Central American meet in Cuba. Fox qualified for the 13-14 age group with times of 27.20 and 1:00.84 in the 50m and 100m free.
