And when Dudley McDonald DeSilva was finally stopped he kicked out at the Police as they tried to arrest him, Magistrates' Court was told.

DeSilva, of North Shore Road, Hamilton Parish, was found guilty of driving while disqualified and violently resisting arrest by Acting Magistrate the Wor. Ed Bailey.

Giving evidence, P.c. Nigel Richardson said he was travelling along North Shore Road with some colleagues in a Police car on February 18 when they saw DeSilva drive past on his motorbike.

After passing the car, DeSilva stopped and turned into Crawl Hill Esso gas station and P.c. Richardson turned his car around and drove to the station.

"I stood next to the bike waiting for DeSilva to come out of the service area.

"As he came out he stopped, looked at me and then started to run,'' said P.c.

Richardson.

He said he started chasing DeSilva, crossing North Shore Road in front of other cars, and into a yard near DeSilva's home.

There he jumped over a wall to his house, but the officer doubled back. "When I got to DeSilva's yard I saw two other officers struggling with him. I went over and by that time his mother and sister were there trying to stop the officers putting handcuffs on him and placing him in the Police car.

"At the same time DeSilva was was kicking out at the officers,'' said P.c.

Richardson.

DeSilva, who had denied both offences, is banned from driving until next February.

Mr. Bailey extended the ban for a further 12 months.

He also fined DeSilva $500 for the motoring offence and $250 for violently resisting arrest.
