Butterfield expands Guernsey operation
Top bank officials, including chairman the Hon. Sir David Gibbons, and president and CEO Mr. Michael Collier, recently visited the bank's additional office space at the newly-constructed Butterfield House in St. Peter Port.
Bank of Butterfield International (Guernsey) Limited opened for business in October, 1989 and in July, 1992 an additional subsidiary, Butterfield Fund Managers (Guernsey) Limited was formed.
The latter was created to provide adminstrative services for financial institutions wishing to incorporate and administer third party funds from Guernsey.
Clients include investment firms from Europe and from North America, such as Merrill Lynch, United Services and Kidder Peabody. The company recently launched a Portuguese Venture Capital Fund for Lisbon bank, Banco Espirito Santo.
Butterfield Fund Managers (Guernsey) moved into Butterfield House in September, 1992.
