Lord, Simmons and Warner, on Church Street, Hamilton, closed for business last week so the new firm can take on its clients from today.

Partners Elizabeth Christopher, Archie Warner and Victoria Pearman will head the new company, called Juris Law Chambers.

Ms Christopher said the new firm was created because senior partner Darcy Lord had retired.

Existing clients of the old firm, based in the Gray's Inn Building, will remain on the books.

"We're staying in the same place and although it's a new firm, the only real change for our clients is the name,'' said Ms Christopher. "It's basically the same organisation but a new chambers. We have dissolved the old firm and the new practice opens on Monday.''
