found dead on a Spanish Point beach in June.

Oris Trott, 65, was spotted on the rocks off Bluck Point Road by gardener Antonio Pimental on the morning of June 30 last year after going missing the previous morning.

The court heard the dead man had a poor memory, had suffered mild seizures and often had to be brought back to the home he shared with his sister by neighbours or the Police.

Mr. Trott died sometime between 11.15 a.m. on June 29 when he had left his Stovell Bay Road home and 9.15 a.m the next day when he was found at a nearby beach. His sister Ruth Trott told the court: " He had lived with me for two and a half years and had become more and more forgetful.'' She said her brother was blind in one eye and half blind in the other and was probably suffering from Alzheimer's disease but was awaiting a diagnosis at the time of his death.

She said: "He left to get some cigarettes from Soares store but when he wasn't home by 5 p.m. I was worried and we started to search for him on Admiralty Park Beach area.

"I went to Soares store but they hadn't seen him all day so I called the Police and continued searching until 12.30 a.m.'' The next day she was asked to identify the body. Dr. John Obafunwa, a consultant pathologist from the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, said his autopsy revealed the death was consistent with sea water drowning.
