Lloyd's CEO to speak at Bermuda briefing
the opening of the Bermuda Market Briefing at the Hamilton Princess Hotel on November 14.
The Lloyd's CEO will be speaking at the two-day event which will examine the current state and future development of the Bermuda insurance market. Mr.
Middleton's informal participation follows a well received address just a fortnight ago from deputy chairman of Lloyd's, Mr. Robert Hiscox, who was the keynote speaker at the eighth annual Hawkesmere/Coopers Lybrand Reinsurance Congress.
The Lloyd's CEO's remarks will be followed by the opening session on Bermuda security and the impact of the Island's proposed new insurance regulations.
One of the hottest topics of the year, that session will feature comments from Mr. Alan Levin of Standard & Poors and KPMG Peat Marwick managing partner, Mr.
Bob Steinhoff, who worked on proposals for the new regulatory structure.
English lawyer Mr. Hugh Bryant, the man behind the recent formation of Shoreline Mutual (Bermuda) Ltd., will be discussing new market developments.
Shoreline is the special purpose mutual established here to provide Certificates of Financial Responsibility (COFRs) as required by the US Coast Guard under the Oil Pollution Act (OPA) 1990.
Also speaking will be Mr. Charles Rudd, the satellite insurance specialist from ACE Ltd. and Mr. Tom Dailey, who is heading up the new finite risk company, Stockton Reinsurance.
Mr. John Dowling, the president of IPC Re and Mr. Bob Virtue, the new president of International Risk Management (Bermuda) Ltd. will also speak.
