Institute has assured Government that it will be ready by next week.

Works and Engineering Minister Leonard Gibbons yesterday told The Royal Gazette he had a "full-blown'' meeting with Michael DeCosta of DeCosta Construction and "sorted things out''.

The assembly building was expected to be completed in time for the new school year.

But last week principal Gail Graham said work was still being carried out on the interior. And she had not been told when it will be completed.

Government has promised Whitney an assembly hall since 1972. Construction on the hall began two years ago and was originally expected to be completed in February.

Mrs. Graham said she hoped the assembly hall will be ready for this year's prizegiving in November.

Asked about the reason for the delay, Mr. Gibbons said it was a result of a "multitude of issues'', including Mr. DeCosta having problems with his sub-contractors.
