He said that he attended the farm at 9.30 a.m. yesterday only to be told by a neighbour that she had just witnessed a man making off with them in a private vehicle.

When the farmer investigated the area he found that the culprit had indeed stolen an estimated 500 lbs worth of pumpkins.

Police were able to get a good description of the culprit, however, and are making active inquiries.
