Bermudian born Diana Douglas Darrid arrived on Tuesday finishing off a book tour which has taken her to points on both sides of the Atlantic.

Ms Douglas Darrid explained to The Royal Gazette that her book is a memoir and takes its title from the experience of waiting to go onstage before the start of a play.

Asked how book sales were coming along, she said: "Very well indeed. The book's now gone into its second printing.'' Not only has Ms Douglas Darrid been promoting the book in Florida, New York and in her home state of California, she has also been over to the United Kingdom where she was featured in Hello magazine.

She described her tour as "interesting''.

The author and actress added that she had actually written a novel before but that it had not yet been published.

"I'm hoping that it will be published soon though,'' she said.

During her week in Bermuda, Ms Douglas Darrid is staying at the cottage colony owned by her family, Ariel Sands, in Devonshire.

"I'm really enjoying my stay,'' she said. "It's always great to be back in Bermuda. I try to get home as often as possible.'' Ms Douglas Darrid added: "I would also like to say that the Bermuda Book Store has done a fantastic job in setting this whole thing up.''
