Young Enterprise awards today
Young Enterprise Bermuda national companies competition ceremony.
The competition, which gets underway at 2 p.m. at the Hamilton Princess, is the third and final leg of annual events for Young Enterprise.
"Young Enterprise is a programme which enables students to run their own company during one academic year,'' said Mr. Dave Carruthers, a member of the Institute of Directors area board.
The Institute of Directors is sponsoring the Young Enterprise programme in Bermuda.
"Our aim is to ensure that every young person in Bermuda has an opportunity to take part in the programme at least once while they are in full time education or training,'' he said. "Each company has prepared a final report, just like an annual report from a company for its shareholders.'' Prizes will be presented by the Hon. Clarence Terceira, Minister of Education, and by Ms Jennifer Smith, Shadow Education Minister.
Mr. Bob Rolls, operating director of Young Enterprise UK, is slated to attend the event.
Throughout the year, students from most of Bermuda senior schools have been operating Young Enterprise companies.
Earlier this year, students participated in an examination set and marked by Oxford while last December a trade fair featured Young Enterprise company products.
Results of the exam will be announced today.
Company presentations are slated for 2.30 p.m. while the awards ceremony gets underway at 4 p.m.
