But this year the Ministry of Community and Cultural Affairs will not be one of the sponsors of the event, which will be held for one day instead of two.

Community and Cultural Affairs Minister Yvette Swan yesterday told The Royal Gazette that the Ministry was unable to sponsor the festival due to financial constraints.

However, she said noted that "all the departments work together'' and the Ministry will still be advising organisers of the event.

The festival, under the auspices of Department of Tourism and West End Development Corporation, will be held on October 13 from noon to 8 p.m.

CultureFest organisers yesterday said there will be a mix of ethnic food stalls, arts, crafts displays and live entertainment. The event will conclude with a Sunset ceremony by the Bermuda Regiment and the Bermuda Pipe Bands.

Musicians from the Tourism-sponsored Jazzcape Festival, which will feature jazz greats George Benson and Dianne Reeves on October 11 to 13, will play at CultureFest. And it is hoped that musicians of other nationalities living in Bermuda will also perform.

As an added attraction organisers will be inviting sailing organisations to have regatta for small boats in the South Basin at Dockyard.

There are also plans to involve the Bermuda Maritime Museum and St. George's in the festivities.
