Webb welcomes e-jobs -- more coming
much more activity involving Bermuda in the global telecommunications sphere, Telecoms and E-Commerce Minister Renee Webb said yesterday, writes Henry Adderley .
Concert Ltd. -- a $7 billion global venture between two of the world's largest communications firms from opposite sides of the Atlantic -- announced yesterday that it will run two parts of its operations from a local base.
"Bermuda has worked hard to establish the ultra-modern infrastructure designed to induce business such as this to our shores,'' Ms Webb said.
She noted the establishment of Concert Ltd., with its emphasis on serving multi-national business customers, international carriers and Internet providers, fell within Bermuda's parameters of a clean, new industry. She said, "Bermuda has been chosen because it's a centre for international business and finance, has an educated professional work force and is a unique linkage for US and British parents.''
