Bermuda Magazine to host conference
annual conference, Bermuda Magazine publisher Bermuda Marketing Ltd. said.
Bermuda Magazine will host the 1997 conference of the International Regional Magazine Association (IRMA) to be held at Lantana Colony Club from Sunday to Friday.
IRMA, which has 60 members spanning the US, UK, Canada, Ireland and Bermuda, is the world's largest regional publishing association, Bermuda Marketing said.
About 100 editors, publishers and art directors will attend. Seminars will cover new media and the latest magazine production techniques.
The conference also includes a reception at Camden hosted by Premier Pamela Gordon. Tourism Minister David Dodwell and US Consul General Robert Farmer will also attend IRMA functions.
"This is a proud moment for us. We beat out several other major resort destinations to bring the conference to Bermuda,'' Bermuda Magazine publisher Ian Coles said.
"It is a great opportunity to show so many top level media people our Island and it's gratifying to know that this event will pour up to $500,000 into the local economy,' Mr. Coles, also IRMA's 1997 president, said.
