Davidson complains to human rights body

slur last year by Tourism Minister the Hon. C.V. (Jim) Woolridge, The Royal Gazette learned last night.

It has received a complaint from Mr. Roger Davidson, former member of the Tourism Board and current treasurer of the United Bermuda Party.

Lawyer Mr. Julian Hall, MP confirmed last night he had been asked to represent Mr. Woolridge.

Last August Mr. Woolridge found himself in hot water for comments which some believed referred to Mr. Davidson and another member of the Tourism Board.

He was reported to have said "...little white boys who don't mind a black man being in charge as long as they can tell him what to do.'' The remark led to Mr. Woolridge being fired -- only to be reinstated within 24 hours after an apology.

Mr. Davidson, president of Bermuda Press Holdings Ltd, parent company of The Royal Gazette Ltd, publishers of The Royal Gazette , has declined to comment on the complaint he has lodged.

Mr. Hall told The Royal Gazette last night: "I have been asked by Mr.

Woolridge to represent him in connection with a complaint brought before the Human Rights Commission.''
