Bermuda Broadcasting Company has been sent to the Attorney General's Chambers.

But last night Broadcast Commissioners chairman Mrs. Louise Jackson said she was "appalled'' at speculation in a television report that the BBC could have its licence revoked.

"There was a broadcast put on by the BBC on August 15 and we received numerous complaints about it because it broke regulations in the political broadcast directions to do with the referendum,'' she said.

She added: "We are investigating at this point, and the idea of revoking BBC's license is absolute and complete nonsense, but the matter has gone to the Attorney General.

"It is a possibility that that could happen but one has to see what the outcome is. It was very irresponsible for that television station to say that, it is a terrible thing and I'm appalled.''
