Nobody in the Police Service or in Government could say yesterday when they would work their last day, or when they would stop being paid.

Commissioner Colin Coxall could not answer those questions, because they were "completely out of his domain,'' Insp. Jones told The Royal Gazette .

Supt. Rose worked yesterday and began his leave today, while Mr. Perinchief has been on leave for a few days.

Insp. Jones said only the ministers responsible for negotiations with the two senior officers could answer the questions.

Home Affairs and Public Safety Minister Quinton Edness was off the Island yesterday.

Premier David Saul said he believed the answers to the questions were still being worked out between the two officers and Personnel Services.

"They're having discussions,'' Dr. Saul said. "I don't think it's been worked out.'' The officers were declared redundant as part of Mr. Coxall's restructuring of the force, which he found to be top-heavy.

Mr. Coxall and Deputy Commissioner Mr. Michael Mylod were brought from England at the beginning of this year following the retirement of Commissioner Lennett (Lennie) Edwards. They are on three-year and two-year contracts respectively.

The forced departure of Mr. Perinchief, in particular, has caused a political uproar, with the Opposition Progressive Labour Party championing the veteran Police officer's cause.
