The 2.1 cents a litre hike was blamed on higher world oil prices as well as an increase in the 0.7 cent per litre profit margin allowed for retail gas station operators which the Minister said had been static for two years.

Diesel also became more expensive, increasing 1.6 cents a litre to 91.9 cents while kerosene went up by 1.9 cents a litre to 71.6 cents.
