Cleansweep cases for the Attorney General's Chambers, it emerged yesterday.

An application to admit Mr. Gratwicke to the Bermuda Bar has been filed in the Supreme Court.

Attorney General Elliott Mottley confirmed that Mr. Gratwicke would be handling just three of the cases and the rest would be dealt with "in-house''.

He added that he had not decided which three cases Mr. Gratwicke would deal with.

Mr. Mottley said Mr. Gratwicke -- a member of the English Bar -- had prosecuted similar cases for Scotland Yard back in the UK and was being brought in because of this experience.

More than 20 people were arrested last month and charged in connection with the unprecedented drug sting operation in which undercover US Drug Enforcement Agents videotaped alleged drug transactions.

Close to half of them have opted for Supreme Court trials.

The alleged deals ranged in value from $25 to $100 and occurred mainly in Warwick and the Broome Street area of Sandys Parish in April and May.
