India alter tour dates
Bermuda Cricket Board of Control president Ed Bailey disclosed yesterday.
The decision, which the BCBC have welcomed as the visitors will now be arriving during the local season, was made because the India squad want to have a one week rest at home at the end of a short tour of Zimbabwe and before travelling to the West Indies for a demanding five-Test tour.
They will now arrive in Bermuda shortly after the final one-day international in the Caribbean on May 3 and will play two one-day matches on May 8 and 10.
"We don't want them to be critical of our conditions and the wickets will be in better condition in May than in February,'' said Bailey.
The president said he had already received correspondence from the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, Jagmohan Dalmiya, confirming the Indians' willingness to play matches on Thursday and Saturday, May 8 and 10, against the Bermuda national team.
