As part of its incentive initiative the bank yesterday announced it would provide ten Bermuda Commercial Bank entry scholarships, each valued at $1,500 per annum and tenable for up to two years.

Managing director of the bank Ms Audette Exel said the scholarships would be offered annually "to provide tangible incentives to eligible students to aim for levels of achievement which will gain them full entry into Associate degree or Certificate level programmes at the Bermuda College''.

She added: "We are delighted to demonstrate in this way out commitment to Bermudian students and to the Bermuda College.

"These entry scholarships will be offered to suitably qualified graduates from the local public educational system to pursue full-time studies in each of the programme areas offered by the College.'' Vice president of Academic and Student Affairs at the college Mrs. Solange Saltus said, "This is exactly the kind of incentive that will encourage our secondary students to realise their potential.'' Associate Dean of Academic Services Mrs. Sheridan Talbot said the bank scholarships were available for this coming academic year.

"Students in the public educational system have been notified of their availability and we already have a number of applications. The deadline for applications in June 30 1995 and short listed candidates will be interviewed towards the end of July.''
