Court after questioning why Police wanted to search him.

Ashfield DeVent, 43, court reporter and local radio personality, resisted when Police tried to search him and his property under the Misuse of Drugs Act. The charge involves drugs, it is an indictable offence that could be tried in the Supreme Court.

It is understood that under the Misuse of Drugs Act, Police operate with "wide powers'' as described by Senior Magistrate Archie Warner.

Mr. Warner told DeVent that anyone can be searched if the Police have "reasonable grounds''.

DeVent asked Mr. Warner: "What's reasonable grounds?'' before requesting trial in Supreme Court.

DeVent will go to trial latter this month.
