`Hootie' star Rucker vows return service
a special "service'' from an American rock star.
Hootie and the Blowfish singer Darius Rucker wed his sweetheart Beth Leonard on the Island this past weekend, and jokingly promised the Rev. Michael Davis that he would sing at St. Anne's Church next year.
The Rev. Davis married the couple on Saturday, he said: "He promised to come back to the church, and just joking I said `hopefully you will sing for us'.'' The couple, who both admit they have fallen in love with Bermuda, wed surrounded by 50 friends and family.
Darius and his friend, Edwin McCain, sang the couple's favourite song, Stevie Wonder's "Happier than the Morning Sun'' to cap the day.
Beth said: "Darius considers Bermuda his paradise, he just loves it. My first trip was on Labour Day, I fell in love with it too.
"We had always gone to the Caribbean, to St. Barts, on vacation, I said why are we going down there? St. Barts is beautiful, Bermuda has the same feel, but there are no golf courses in St. Barts, Darius is an avid golfer.'' She said the persistent rain didn't dampen their spirits and only served to make the day more special.
