Symposium incentive for students

Symposium will receive credits for a professional development programme run by the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters.

Mr. Ian Linnegan, director of the Bermuda Insurance Institute, said that students attending BIS seminars will receive 14 credits for the CPCU's Continuing Professional Development programme.

The Insurance Institute of America, the insurance industry's professional body in the US which runs the CPCU programmes, puts great emphasis on post qualification courses, said Mr. Linnegan.

"The IIA doesn't want people to qualify and then forget about learning,'' he said. "They are trying to encourage insurance people to keep up to date with all the latest developments in an ever changing industry.

"Any post-qualification programme will give participants that extra competitive edge in the market place. We hope Bermudian CPCU people will take advantage of the credits that are available from attending the Bermuda Insurance Symposium.'' Anyone interested in taking part in the BIS seminars should contact Mr.

Linnegan at the BII.
