HAMILTON -- The Bermuda Stock Exchange was pushed up 53.49 points or 3.17 percent to a new 52 week high after all three banks shares rose in price.

Bank of Bermuda stock reached a new 52 week high of $37.50 after stock rose $1.50 or 4.2 percent in one day on a volume of 2,694 shares.

Bank of Butterfield jumped 3.1 percent or 50 cents to $16.50 -- trading over 24,400 shares - worth $402,600. Even Bermuda Commercial Bank was boosted by the 60/40 debate raging on the Island, going up 10 percent or 50 cents to $5.50.

The only other change was in Corporation of Hamilton 8 percent BMD issues, which lost $5.00 to close at $100.

The index closed at 1,741.26 on a volume of 38,298 shares worth $696,258.35 and 10,000 bonds worth $10,000.
