Police make `major' drug bust
today in connection with a drug bust that took place Wednesday afternoon out at Dockyard.
Sources last night told The Royal Gazette a "substantial amount'' of drugs -- believed to be cocaine -- were seized at the North Basin Yacht Co., on Ireland Island in Sandys Parish. And Minister of Labour, Home Affairs and Public Safety Quinton Edness told The Royal Gazette the action was a joint Police and Customs operation.
"It is a drug bust, but that's all I can say except to commend the people involved and say I hope it's the first of many more.'' Two men believed to be Bermudian were reportedly taken away in unmarked Police vehicles. Sources also indicated one other person is being sought in the on-going investigation.
Chief Inspector George Jackson, who was last night unavailable for comment, is investigating.
