Top author meets young talent
of his books in Hamilton today.
Mr. Myers is in Bermuda as guest of the Youth Library and presented certificates to aspiring authors last night at Camden.
He was guest of honour at the Young Authors Awards Night, which was hosted by Lady Swan, wife of the Premier, and Minister of Community and Cultural Affairs, the Hon. Leonard Gibbons.
Mr. Myers presented certificates to the young writers who participated in a two-week Youth Library Summer Workshop conducted by Youth Library Head, Mrs.
Florenz Maxwell.
They produced individual stories which were independently judged by a panel of guest readers.
Mr. Myers, a father of three, living in New York City, has written over 25 books and won the Coretta King Book Award in 1980, 1985, 1989 and 1992. He has also won the Council on Interracial Books for Children Award.
He will be at True Reflections on Court Street, Hamilton, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
