Top local singer set to boost BPWA fund raiser

the Business and Professional Women's Association (BPWA) of Bermuda as the featured soloist for this year's annual Heritage Month Concert.

Pinky Steede, who recently returned from a highly-successful career overseas, will perform in recital with accompanist Mark Squires at the City Hall Theatre tomorrow evening.

The concert, which is the BPWA's cultural contribution to Heritage Month, also serves as the Association's major fund raiser for their Scholarship Fund.

Since the awards were inaugurated in 1977, about 70 Bermuda College students have received grants to further studies there, or to go on to institutions overseas.

In 1976, Ms Steede became a member of the original cast of the hit musical, `Bubbling Brown Sugar'in New York, and later in London. She has also appeared at the Dorchester Hotel, the Cafe Royale, the Playboy Club and in a `command' performance for Prince Charles, an occasion, Pinky says, that "I'll never forget''.

She also worked in Europe and South Africa, and in cabaret in all the leading hotels of Hong Kong.

`An Evening with Pinky Steede' takes place at City Hall tomorrow, May 14 at 8.30 p.m.

Tickets at $15 are available from the City Hall box office (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

or prior to show), from Dean's Bakery in Somerset, or Perinchief's of Bermuda in St. George's.
