The Index gained just .57 of a point to close at 1175.94 as BF&M shares matched their high for the year, closing up 25 cents at $7 on volume of 400.

The move offset a 12.5 cent decline in Telco, which closed at $35 on volume of 2,309 -- the biggest share volume of the day.

Bermuda Financial Centre shares -- which are not a component of the index -- jumped 75 cents to a new high of $10 on volume of 100 shares.

Trading unchanged were: Bank of Bermuda, $22.50 on volume of 132 shares; Bank of Butterfield, $33, 46 shares; Bermuda Press, $8, 326; and Bank of Bermuda 9% notes, $107.125, 360 units.
