Anderson, 59, of Old Maid's Lane pleaded guilty to drinking liquor in a public place, using offensive behaviour and resisting arrest.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner gave him a six-month conditional discharge for the first offence.

He imposed three months imprisonment, suspended for six months for the second offence and a six-month conditional discharge for the latter.

Crown counsel Cindy Clarke told the court that Anderson was walking along Coot Pond Road when Police spotted him drinking a Miller Beer and shouting obscenities at visitors in the area.

Ms Clarke said Anderson told Police to "get the f**k away from me'' when they approached him and resisted their repeated attempts to subdue him.

Anderson told the court that he had been working hard and had gotten himself a Dark and Stormy to go and relax on the beach with but said he was so drunk that he did not know whether he was on the road or not.

Mr. Warner said: "St. George's depends on the visitors and they are spending lots of money to attract them there and you are scaring them away.'' He told Anderson that he would go to jail if he appeared in court again for hassling visitors and told him to "stay out of trouble''.
