The transformation of ?Harbour View? is complete with the filming of a traditional roof wetting with rum for the US television programme, ?This Old House?.

?This Old House? wrapped up its eleven week stay in Bermuda, leaving behind a beautifully renovated home for Delaey Robinson and Andrea Dismont. Crews from the show were on the Island for 11 weeks and the first episode aired last November.

The circa 1805 Georgian-style home, tucked into the quaint alley?s of St. George?s has been transformed from a former bachelor pad to a pristine family home, wonderfully adorned with cedar.

The producer of the television show ?This Old House?, Deborah Hood told : ?Hurricane Fabian made us think of Bermuda. We thought we could do a Hurricane repair story. But Bermuda did such a great job repairing everything we decided to restore a home in St. George?s instead. We fell in love with St. George?s and the history of it.

The show joined up with Mr. Robinson and Ms Dismont through an architect at OBM Architecture and Interior Design, Colin Campbell.

Mr. Campbell who was already working with the owners of the house told Ms Hood: ?I have the perfect story for you.?

Ms Hood told : ?Mr. Robinson and Ms Dismont never had a home of their own ? they lived at the inn that they run. This building near the inn was a storage room for the inn. They wanted to renovate it. This renovation was at least a year long job and we did it in eleven weeks ? that is unheard of.?

Owner of the newly renovated ?Harbour View?, Ms Dismont said in her speech to the finale celebration: ?This show has really been about Bermuda craftsmanship. I am so touched ? these men and women are our family. It doesn?t feel like our house ? this is Bermuda?s house.

?Eight shows were dedicated to Bermuda ? and the Island looked beautiful in them. The show has an audience of 45 to 50 million people ? it puts Bermuda on the map.?

Ms Dismont praised the work of BCM McAlpine and said: ?We could not have done it without them.?

The show has only been out of the United States twice to shoot, the first time they went to London, said Ms Hood. ?We plan to go somewhere warm every winter.?

Mr. Robinson said: ?I am way more than just pleased. This is the most incredible example of what Bermuda can do. Here are Bermudian?s coming together with our guests and working together.?

A unique cedar fireplace was created in the dinning area by Norm Abram, the master carpenter of the show. The renovation preserved the historical integrity of the house?s exterior and building an addition that is compatible with the original structure, in accordance with UNESCO World Heritage guidelines, according to a press release.

Ms Dismont announced to the many partygoers in celebration of the newly renovated house: ?This has been an incredible experience for my husband and I and our family.?
