result of a jet ski accident almost two years ago.

Christine Alfano suffered a severely broken leg when her jet ski collided with another, in Castle Harbour, in June, 1998.

The driver of the second jet ski was a Blue Water Divers' instructor.

It was also alleged the instructor was speeding when the accident occurred.

Marriott Director of Operations David Abraham said then that the instructor was going to reprimand two other jet skiers who were driving dangerously.

Miss Alfano came to the Island as a passenger on a cruise ship with six of her friends as part of a graduation trip.

They had rented jet skis from Blue Water Divers at the then-Marriott's Castle Harbour Resort and were only in the water for a few minutes when tragedy struck.

Miss Alfano, a passenger on the jet ski, said she knew something had hit the jet ski when she was thrown into the water.

She was pulled from the water by a diving boat that happened to be in the area, as there was no safety boat.

Then the instructor dived into the water and dragged her ashore. He then wrapped her leg in a sweatshirt and belt.

"I was holding my leg together in the water,'' Miss Alfano said.

The impact from the collision had broken two bones in her leg and caused muscle damage to her knee.

It is unknown at this time if Miss Alfano has fully recovered from her injuries.

Pepin Aslett of King and Associates will be representing Miss Alfano, but had no comment at this time.
