International head for Concacaf challenge
first leg of the CONCACAF Club Championship, the American Airlines Cup.
International, who finished a disappointing seventh in the domestic league programme, face American side Dallas Rockets tomorrow.
The Rockets, the champions of the US Independent Soccer League, reached this stage by beating Cemcol-Crown of Belize 3-1 on aggregate. Hamilton gained far easier passage to this stage as they received a bye when Canadians Vancouver 86ers withdrew. The second leg will be played in Bermuda on Saturday, May 2.
The winners will advance to face either San Francisco Bay Blackhawks or La Victoria of Belize who clash on April 18 and May 3.
The Blackhawks are led by American internationals Dominic Kinnear, John Doyle, Troy Dayak and Eric Wynalda. They enjoyed a 10-1 romp over Eurokickers of Panama. La Victoria defeated Diriangen of Nicaragua 2-1.
Hamilton were invited to enter the competition, won by Puebla of Mexico last year, because of their runner-up league finish in the 1990-91 season.
