Two builders have been charged with the machete murder of Bermudian Greg Daniels in Jamaica - and Police have revealed one used to work for the victim.

Mr. Daniels, 47, was hacked to death in the grounds of his holiday home in Hanover parish on August 22 by two men who stole $4,000.

Sgt. Dotton Martin told The Royal Gazette the pair had been arrested and charged on September 8 and will appear in court tomorrow.

Two Hanover men, Orlando Anderson, a 26-year-old carpenter from Dundee Penn, and Mark Campbell, a 23-year-old mason from Brissett, have been remanded in custody.

Sgt. Martin said Anderson had been employed by Mr. Daniels but was no longer working for him at the time of the murder.

He said Anderson had been helpful in the investigation after accusing Campbell of the killing.

Sgt. Martin said: "The accused man who is being co-operative is saying he was there with the intention of robbery not to kill but the other person did the killing."

However both men have been charged with murder.

"We are getting full cooperation from that accused and from people in the community who have been very cooperative," said Sgt. Martin who said Hanover was normally a quiet place. "This is an isolated incident."

He said Mr. Daniels had been attacked after going to shut his gate just after dinner guests had left that Friday evening. The stolen money has not been recovered.

"He died of multiple machete wounds to his neck, back and chest," said Sgt. Martin.

Mr. Daniels was pulled into a bushy area and chopped to death but Police took three hours to find the body in the dense undergrowth.

Mr. Daniels' Bermudian wife Lucinda Washington, 47, saw the men, jumped into the family's pick up truck with her ten-year-old grandchild and drove to the Police station.

Mr. Daniels typically used the home for two months at a time and then was gone again said Police.

Mr. Daniels, a welder, had been in Jamaica for several months and had just finished building his dream home and had planned to move there permanently.

He had a daughter and granddaughter who were also preparing to move to Jamaica.
