The Hamilton-based company will provide security equipment, fire alarm equipment, video surveillance, communications systems and other associated equipment, Pro-Tech said.

"We are a team and pride ourselves on meeting the needs of the local market,'' said managing director Mr. Johnston, 30, who has 12 years experience in Bermuda in the security business.

"We feel that homeowners' needs have to be addressed with a much more customised service than they have been able to get to date,'' he said.

Mr. Johnston has worked with two Bermuda security companies and has numerous industry-related certificates as well as affiliations with various US security systems distributors.

The company, of which Mr. Johnston is the sole owner, is a member of Maryland-based National Fire and Burglar Association which includes various security companies.
