Opening day pushed back
Underwater Exploration Institute to push back its opening day to late June or early July, BUEI Chairman David Lines yesterday told The Royal Gazette .
"The building is by and large complete and on time,'' said Mr. Lines. "The problem now is with the exhibits. These things are very complex, electronics and all that stuff.
"They're due to arrive very soon then they have to be installed and tested.
It's all very technically complicated.'' Earlier reports and interviews with BUEI staff had projected a May opening date for the East Broadway facility, but no specific date had been set, pointed out Mr. Lines.
The Island's newest attraction -- five years in the making -- will concentrate on the exploration of the deep ocean world off the Bermuda platform, in the region 1000-12,000 feet beneath the waves.
It will also highlight man's interaction with sea, including an extensive exhibit on shipwrecks.
