of a missing American man in mystery.

The family of US visitor Mr. Steven Ferging, who has been missing since March 19, have appealed for information.

It is believed he checked out of a local guest house on Sunday.

Police claim they were informed Mr. Ferging boarded a flight on Tuesday, but Immigration have denied they supplied the information.

"Immigration have no idea when he left or where he went,'' said Information Services director Mr. Gavin Shorto this week.

Adding to the confusion, a spokesman for the US Consul General said the man, who is in his 20s, left the Island on Sunday for New York.

His family, who are desperately searching for him, indicated he appeared depressed and had suffered recent reversals in his life.
