Florida sex offender in court
authorities compile extradition papers for him, appeared for mention in Magistrates' Court.
Dr. Miller, listed in the state of Florida as a convicted child sex offender, is reported to have fled from the US after serving just one month of a two-year community service sentence handed down on him.
He pleaded no contest to charges of sexual battery in 1997 and received a six-year probation order along with the two-year community service sentence.
He reportedly fled the US for Jamaica and arrived in Bermuda in March 1997 and has been a practising paediatrician.
Dr. Miller has been living in Bermuda with his wife -- the same person listed as his victim in the sexual battery case.
Local authorities have said they intend to bring local charges against him.
But yesterday Crown counsel Patrick Dougherty said an investigation was still underway.
