departure of former head Brian Rowlinson.

It is understood that four candidates are in the running for the post, which was left vacant when Mr. Rowlinson became Permanent Secretary to the Environment earlier in the year.

And there are reports that acting director of Planning Aideen Ratteray-Pryse, who was in the frame, has handed in her notice.

She may be lined up to take over as the head of next year's Bermuda International Film Festival.

When asked about the possible move last night, Mrs. Ratteray-Pryse said there were always options and that "everyone left at some point''.

She declined to comment further.
