Southside's high tech office block ready for business
Bermuda's new high tech office development, Channel House at Southside, is due to open toward the end of the month.
The three-storey former US military administrative centre has undergone a $1.5 million renovation to cater for technology companies.
Bermuda Land Development Company (BLDC), which owns the 24,000 square foot property, said the site is becoming a centre for the burgeoning e-commerce business.
The office still has 4,000 square feet of space to let to another company, which will join financial services and multimedia company WarPaint Ltd. and the Department of Civil Aviation.
BLDC chief executive George Smith said yesterday: "It is really developing into a first class building with access to high speed communications with broad bandwidth to conduct any volume of business.
"We anticipate that businesses will be in a position to move in as of the end of May.
"We have expended substantial funds in the redevelopment of this building and are very excited about its completion. Although it has taken in excess of a year to complete, we wanted to make sure that we had everything just right.
"What we have ended up with is a building that will serve its occupants for many years into the future.'' A building for the future: BLDC boss George Smith
