fruit punch (with or without alcohol). Try making some of Bermuda's popular drinks at home.
PASSION FRUIT COCKTAIL 2/5 part Passion fruit liqueur 1/5 part Orange juice 1/5 part lemon juice 1/5 part Scotch whisky MIX in a shaker and serve in a highball glass. Top up with lemonade. Decorate with a sprig of mint, an orange slice and a cherry.
*** TINNY'S PLANTER'S PUNCH 1 1 oz light rum 4 oz orange juice 2 oz pineapple juice 1 oz Maraschino cherry juice (or Grenadine) 1 1 oz Black Seal Rum SHAKE the first four ingredients and pour into a tall glass filled with ice.
Top with the Black Seal Rum and two or three drops of Angostura Bitters.
Decorate with a slice of orange and a cherry on a toothpick and serve with a straw.
*** STRAWBERRY DAIQUIRI 6 Fresh strawberries 1 measure of Fraise Liqueur A dash of Lemon Juice A splash of Grenadine A taste of sugar BLEND all the above ingredients with crushed ice. Serve in a frosted tulip glass and decorate with two halves of a large strawberry.
*** JAMAICAN GINGER BEER 2 oz Jamaican green ginger 2 oz cream of tartar 1 gallon boiling water 1 cake yeast The juice and rind of 3 small limes 1 1 pounds sugar WASH and pound the ginger. Add the boiling water and the juice and rinds of the limes. Mix in the cream of tartar. Cover but stir frequently. When the mixture is lukewarm, dissolve the yeast in a small amount of warm water and add to the brew. Stir well.
Let stand for 6 hours. Sweeten and bottle. Keep at least 3 to 4 days. Add a small quantity of rum to preserve the drink.
*** BERMUDA WEDDING DRINK 1 can Hawaiian Punch 1 can Pineapple juice 2 quarts water Spiced orange and apples MIX all the ingredients together and leave to ferment overnight.
