electricity for six hours and landed two people in hospital.

The accident occurred on Spanish Point Road, Pembroke, near the junction with Stovell Bay Road, where a driver of a car lost control and collided with a utility pole around 5.30 a.m.

The impact of the accident caused the pole to snap in half and fall across the road.

Bermuda Electric Light Company spokesman Linda Smith said workmen were on the scene immediately.

"They restored the main line by 6.30 a.m. and the rest of the power was restored by 11.30 a.m. when the pole was upright and the lines restrung,'' Ms Smith said.

She added that the investigation into the accident slowed down the restoration of power to the area.

The 29-year-old male and 27-year-old female involved in the accident were admitted to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital with serious head injuries. A hospital spokesman said they were later released.
