Mr. Sheldon Whitehouse is the receiver for the parent company, American Universal Insurance Company, incorporated in Rhode Island.

The Bermuda company owes its parent's intercompany debt, said local law firm Mello Hollis Jones & Martin, which is representing the plantiff.

The US parent company, which is in receivership, has already obtained a judgement against the Bermuda company in the US, enabling it to pursue the debt.
