Dennis Edward Steede, 46, of Cataract Hill changed his plea several times before finally pleading guilty to stealing a canvas bag, a loaf of bread, five dollars in change and $20 worth of personal items.
Before settling on this plea, Steede said he had been sentenced for this matter already, and later claimed he was Dennis Williams.
In sentencing, Magistrate Edward King said Steede was a repeat offender and is presently incarcerated after two suspended sentences were enacted.
He said: "He does not deserve leniency and I impose a term of three months imprisonment consecutive to terms which he is presently serving.''
